Description
Small groups, organized at last
You know small group instruction is where the biggest growth happens. You also know how hard it is to keep track of four groups, five days a week, plus all the data that tells you who needs what next.
This planner puts it all in one place. Plan your lessons, see the whole week at a glance, jot quick notes on each student, track progress over 6 or 9 weeks, and decide who’s ready to move groups. Everything is color-coded, so you can find any group in seconds.
Now with WIN Time pages
WIN stands for What I Need: a daily block when every student gets the support or challenge they need next. Students are grouped by data, not by homeroom, and groups change every few weeks as they grow. The new WIN pages help you set it up and keep it running:
- What Is WIN Time? A one-page guide to share with your team, covering what WIN is, the non-negotiables, the four groups, and a sample 30-minute block
- The WIN data cycle: assess, group, plan and teach, monitor, then review and regroup every 4–6 weeks
- WIN grouping mats: labeled and blank versions
- WIN schedule & staffing: who teaches each group, where, the target skill and the materials
- WIN group lesson plan: target skill, data source and baseline, exit criteria, and a 5-day warm-up, teach, practice and quick-check plan
- Data review & regrouping: record each student’s baseline, check-in and current score, then mark Stay, Move up, More support or Exit
Everything teachers already love
- Small group reading lesson plans with rows for phonics/word study, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency and writing connection, plus Reteach, Preteach, Practice and Beyond boxes, in labeled and blank versions
- Week at a glance: all four groups on one page, labeled and blank
- Observation notes: quick notes for up to 24 students
- Skills checklist: track standards, skills or attendance across your class
- Student data trackers: 9-week and 6-week versions with a built-in fluency graph, plus a filled-in sample
- Reading process step mats: mini lesson, guided practice, independent practice and application, in all four colors
Color-coded groups
Every page uses the same four colors, so your groups are easy to spot on any page:
- Pink: Intervention (Tier 3, intensive)
- Yellow: Approaching (Tier 2, strategic)
- Teal: On Level (practice and reinforce)
- Blue: Enrichment (extend and enrich)
An EL checkbox on the planning pages lets you flag English learner supports in any group.
